Deer Island sits in the turbulent waters at the mouth of Passamaquoddy Bay near the border of the Province of New Brunswick and the State of Maine.

Deer Island has three communities - Fairhaven, Leonardville and Lord's Cove. Throughout the year Deer Islanders can be found busy at fishing and aquaculture, although tourism is growing in importance.

Deer Island sits about four kilometres (or three miles) from Letete, New Brunswick.

Coastal Transport Limited is pleased to offer daily trips to Deer Island. We provide a brief, no charge ferry ride from Letete. You'll enjoy a short (and free of charge) ferry ride on either the John E. Rigby or the Deer Island Princess II.

The island is famous for playing host to Old Sow, the largest tidal whirlpool in the western hemisphere. Deer Island Point is popular with kayakers and is well known as a destination for scuba diving.

During the summer seasonal ferries connect Deer Island with New Brunswick’s Campobello Island, and to the city of Eastport, Maine.
